As a result of COVID-19, we have risen to the challenge to assist our vulnerable population of seniors, veterans and developmentally disabled adults. In partnership with First United Methodist Church of Clermont, we deliver daily prepared hot nutritous meals to those in need. Persons who are homebound, family or caregivers wishing to request help for their loved one; a widow or widower who can't prepare their own food, or persons recuperating from a medical condition can receive door-to-door food deliveries. Through the Veterans And Seniors Enrichment Project (VASE), we eliminate food insecurity, empower and educate, veterans, senior citizens and the developmentally disabled adults in our communities. We encourage and support the elderly, veterans and disabled clients by providing activities that help prevent isolation and depression, while at the same time promotes family unification. In partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, we provide 14 meals per family (7 breakfast and 7 lunches) every Tuesday. Seniors in Groveland, Florida received door-to-door lunch deliveries on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We anticipate delivering 5 days per week very soon. We offer weekly free lunch and fellowship, movie nights, computer and tablet training, and fun activities and field trips for seniors.
